Naive Sherrie Christian has just arrived in Hollywood from Tulsa looking to become a rock star. She is just likel Drew Boley was when he first arrived in Hollywood, he, now the Hollywood veteran, who works as ia bar back at the Bourbon Club, known as the center of the rock scene in town and the place where many of the biggest acts in rociiiiki got their big break.
The two meet as Drew helps Sherrie with a situation when she first arrives in town. Dennis and Lonny, who are having financial difficulties, are able to convince rock star Stacee Jaxx, the perpetually stoned front man for the band Arsenal who got his first break performing at the Bourbon, to perform for free at a benefit Written by Huggo. I feel compelled to submit a review for this movie, purely because some of the atrocious reviews I've seen contributed by others.
To give context, I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and pretty much know all the songs backwards - surprisingly I did not grow up in LA, or the States for that matter, but I most certainly grew up with just about every song played in this movie.
I absolutely hate musicals. With a passion. So, even though my friends encouraged me to watch this movie, I resisted. Eventually I caved, and all I can say is that I absolutely loved the movie! My wife loved the movie, but in all honesty, our 10 year old thought it was OK - purely because she didn't know any of the songs. If you love rock, and grew up with 80s rock, this movie is for you. Reviewers posting they walked out after 15 minutes, really shouldn't contribute here.
And quite frankly, you need to have a serious problem if you are analyzing the actors voices with respect to the original artists. This movie is good fun, and true to the times This movie is THE musical for all rockers out there! Absolutely wonderful fun for the family, with a stellar performance from the entire cast. A good couple of chuckles in there, and if you're over 35 years old I dare you to not sing along with some of those classics.
With so much rubbish coming out of Hollywood to keep the nay-sayers busy with their critical reviews, this is a refreshing change. If rock is not your choice of music, skip this movie This movie rocked! The film's score was composed and conducted by Cliff Eidelman. Originally scheduled to enter production in summer for a release, it eventually commenced production in May and was released on June 15, The related film soundtrack also did critically well, certified Gold in Canada.

Stacee sends Sherrie for a bottle of scotch from his limo.
Constance lashes out at the once-great Stacee; they recognize their mutual attraction and are about to have sex when Stacee sings " I Want to Know What Love Is ". Ashamed, Constance leaves as Sherrie enters and collides with Stacee. Drew mistakenly believes that Sherrie and Stacee had sex, and is angrily inspired to sing " I Wanna Rock " for the opening act.
Drew and Sherrie break up and she quits the Bourbon Room. Drew tries to run after her but Paul, impressed with his performance, offers him a record deal as Arsenal sings their last song of the night "Pour Some Sugar on Me".
Dennis worries the Bourbon Room will close and that he has "let everyone down. Sherrie visits the Hollywood sign, where she finds Drew, whose life has also not gone as planned.
She tells him she did not have sex with Stacee and will be returning to Oklahoma. Stacee recognizes Patricia, whom Lonny exposes as a former Arsenal groupie. Eight months later, Stacee has rejoined Arsenal and performs the song with Drew and Sherrie, now part of Wolfgang Von Colt, at Dodger Stadium in front of a crowd including Dennis, Lonny, Justice, a pregnant Constance, and Patricia, returned to her rock 'n' roll persona.

Best Actor Mission: Impossible - Fallout Best Actor Edge of Tomorrow Best Actor Valkyrie Best Actor War of the Worlds Best Actor Collateral Best Actor The Last Samurai At this point in his career, the stories of Tom Cruise doing his own stunts are almost legendary.
A lot. The amount of running in the film is a stunt unto itself and director Christopher McQuarrie shows off Cruise doing it all himself, with long shots, and in other action sequences, with clever uses of the camera.
No matter what the situation, Tom Cruise is committed to making his movies feel as realistic as possible. But sometimes, it feels like he takes it a little bit too far, to the point that his "Mission: Impossible" co-star Simon Pegg says that the biggest difference between watching him do the stunts on set and watching them in the film is that the audience "knows that Tom lives in the end.
The Last Samurai After eight months of rigorous martial arts and katana training, Cruise climbed aboard a mechanical horse for a makeshift battlefield joust against co-star Hiroyuki Sanada. But an error in Sanada's mechanical horse caused it to stop farther than the crew intended, and Cruise's neck nearly collided with Sanada's sword. Who's to say.
But would Cruise have broken his neck if that sword got any closer? Quite likely. Mission: Impossible II In one armrest-clutching shot, Ethan Hunt stops a knife from being driven right into his eye.
When it was filmed, Cruise shocked director John Woo when he said he wanted to be involved in the shot with no special effects. Like "The Last Samurai," the blade is dulled, but it's attached to a cable to make sure that Cruise didn't need that "Valkyrie" eyepatch eight years in advance. But while Cruise did have digitally removed gear he used during filming, he did tear a muscle in his shoulder while filming the scene, which included a shot of him clinging to the sheer rock face while facing outward over the huge drop below.
Abrams on a scene in which Ethan falls off of the garden wall of the Vatican while suspended by a brake cable that will stop him an inch from the ground. In reality, the cable holding Cruise back from a bone-crushing meeting with the ground was held on the other end by a bevy of strong crew members. Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol An instantly iconic action scene for both Cruise and the genre as a whole was Ethan's infamous attempt to scale the Burj Khalifa.
While Cruise was harnessed, he climbed, dropped, and swung around the side of the half-mile high skyscraper for eight days to get the shots seen in the film. Jack Reacher Before working together on "Mission: Impossible," Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie worked on this action film in which Cruise did all the car chase scenes on his own.
Yes, even the parts where he's smashing into walls and other cars. Cruise went on to use his stunt driving training to power slide through narrow alleys in "Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation" while cameras attached to the windshield make it nearly impossible to see the road. Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation That's not a green screen. While Cruise is attached by a safety harness that's digitally removed, he really is clinging to the side of a plane as it takes off.
Cruise has said that between the g-forces of the takeoff and the wind blasting in his face, he nearly forgot to say his line while holding on to the plane. In the underwater scene in "Rogue Nation" where Ethan has to hold his breath for over six minutes, Cruise didn't actually have to hold his breath as long to film the scene since they could use effects and takes.
But to prove to the safety crew that he could be filmed for several minutes at a time without them having to worry about him, Cruise did learn how to hold his breath for six minutes.
In an interview with Graham Norton, Cruise says he spent two years getting his helicopter license and preparing for the scene, which involves a close range, low altitude chase through the mountains of New Zealand with co-star Henry Cavill.
That'll look good in the papers,'" Cavill said. And that's not the only death-defying stunt he does in the film. At CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Cruise explained how he jumped 25, feet out of a plane over times for another aerial stunt sequence while wearing military breathing equipment that allowed him to skydive at such high altitudes. Opening with one of the most memorable and jaw dropping stunts in the whole series before the opening credits have even rolled shows the sheer level of confidence, identity and audience understanding that the series has established now.
Said opening sequence is incredible and absolutely is a statement of intent, with Cruise strapping himself to the side of a plane and having it take off in real time, the camera positioning and movements are perfect for showing us the best angles for the most excitement and tension. The stealthy tense opera sniper fight is creative and nerve wracking with an excellent usage of diegetic music and set design. The underwater infiltration section is unique and once again sees Cruise actually having to hold is breath for a substantial amount of time in real life.
The highlight though has to be car to motorbike chase sequence. An absolute triumph in capturing the essence of speed and nail biting tension, with thrilling choreography and camera positioning. As expected by now Cruise gives his all and more. There is a reason why Ethan Hunt is probably his most iconic character. New franchise member Rebecca Ferguson does a brilliant job as the undercover British agent.
She is cunning and stunning as she kick ass in many of her own action set pieces. Sean Harris is broods a subtle and imposing menace as the main antagonist and Alec Baldwin does a good job as the new Secretary. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation once again delivers the intensity, engagement, thrilling action and top performances as expected.
Fully established in its tone, style and expectations. The highlight of the franchise so far. Another superb M:I movie. Twists in plot and loyalty, some fun moments and astounding chases, fights and infiltration scenes.
It's nicely stylish too, and the Simon Pegg character is plausible as an agent and professional, but quirky enough to add some giggles.
Tom Cruise never really connects, but the movie is far more than just his role, so it's definitely worth a watch. I will start by saying that I am not a fan of the M:I movies. I caught the trailer for M:I Rogue Nation by accident online and tried it out on dvd first. If I was impressed enough, I would order the blu ray and of course, I was.
